To finally win a major tournament, and it only took 71 tries, but boy was it worth the wait. There is no more coveted tournament then the Masters on the PGA tour.
As much as I was always hoping he would win one, it had become a joke to say, “Sergio is in the hunt”, wait till Sunday was always the joke. Poor Sergio had always managed to fall apart on Sunday, especially on the back nine. But not this Sunday, the win was even more meaningful as it would have been the 60th birthday of his fellow countrymen and boyhood hero Seve Ballesteros (2 time Masters winner) that died in 2011 from a brain tumor. And, he did it in style with a birdie in a playoff hole.
Congratulations to Sergio, perhaps it gives hope to all of us aging golfers that a hole in one may still be out there for the taking.
